Hi I'm CJ Cornell

Over the past 20 years I have worn many hats: Serial Entrepreneur. University Professor. Engineer. Media Executive. Venture Capitalist. Researcher. Marketer. Advisor. Mentor. Author and Speaker.

I’ve founded or co-founded nearly a dozen companies in software, digital media and television. Some were painful failures, while others ended up having notable success with millions of customers – with revenues, funding and exits totaling over $3 Billion.

For the past few years I’ve been working on university entrepreneurship programs and regional ecosystems: First, as a Professor of Entrepreneurship at Arizona State University, and Co-Director of the Knight Center for Digital Media Entrepreneurship, then as visiting Professor at New York Institute of Technology and at other universities.

I work with the Kauffman Foundation on Entrepreneurial Ecosystem building, and with the Arizona Commerce Authority on helping to develop great startups, great entrepreneurs and vibrant ecosystems. I'm Arizona State organizer for Global Entrepreneurship Week 2020.

Currently, I am taking a hiatus from academics to focus on writing, speaking, consulting and research in digital media and entrepreneurship, as well as mentoring entrepreneurs and advising start-up ventures so they can become the next Apple, Google or Facebook

Quote of the Day

There are two kinds of people in this world: Those that enter a room and turn the television set on, and those that enter a room and turn the television set off.
